Nice day, much warmer. Went to Conway, Mochdre and Llandudno, looking for shallots. Bought 2 lbs onion bulbs and 1 dozen lettuce plants, ½ doz blue violas from Mynetts. Planted lettuce, more radishes and summer squash. Working until dark. Had fire. Watered room plants and sweet peas. Met Mrs Pyle and Bessie Roberts in Llandudno.

Monday

Very cold and raining at first. Planted 12 aubretias and put up curtain to stop chaffinch flying at window. In afternoon dug up couch in block and planted some more of the raspberry canes and the Jerusalem artichokes – very tired. Had fire, but it was inclined to smoke.

Monthly record

Find I have some purple anemones out in lower garden. They came among the plants from Barrett’s sale. May daffs out, daphne, primroses and polyanthus, wallflowers and flowering currant and Siberian bluebells – very stunted. Tulips budding, winter heather out and prettly little pink rosette near them.
